Meet the team
Jo Mugan
Jo Mugan qualified as a Podiatrist in 1995 and has over 25 years experience as a Podiatrist. Most of this experience has been within the field of Podiatric Biomechanics and Adult Musculoskeletal Podiatry. Jo has, for the last 20 years, further specialised in Podopaediatics, which is the assessment and treatment of children and adolescents with orthopaedic, developmental and inflammatory conditions.
Throughout Jo's career, she has continued to practice routine Chiropody, providing treatments for corns/callous, thickened, painful or hard to reach nails and advising on general foot health.
As a person with hypermobility, Jo has always had an added interest in this area and has experienced several musculoskeletal injuries/treatments first-hand as a result! Working alongside the physio's at PhysioCure has enabled Jo to further specialise in hypermobility and in particular treat clients with hypermobile Ehlers Danlos Syndrome who often require a different approach to podiatric/orthotic therapy.
Jo has previously worked as Podopaediatric and Adult Biomechanics Lead Clinician/Team Leader for Leeds NW PCT and more recently as Lead Paediatric Podiatrist for Harrogate and District Foundation Trust (Based in York), providing support and education for NHS Podiatrists across North Yorkshire. Jo also has experience of working within private practice and has been lucky enough to work for some of the leading MSK podiatrists, paediatric physiotherapists and foot and ankle consultants within the UK. Previous NHS work has given Jo extensive experience of working with paediatric and adult orthopaedic consultants, rheumatologists, physiotherapists and paediatricians.
Outside of work, Jo has frequently spoken at regional society branch meetings and presented at national conferences on the subject of Podopaediatrics.
